Gender-Based Violence Support

Overview

Birchway Niagara and Gillian’s Place serve as vital sanctuaries and resource hubs for individuals escaping unimaginable hardships. REACH Niagara is proud to contribute by offering a range of services, including primary care, both trauma-informed and trauma-specific therapy, and system navigation.

Who is the program for?

Our Gender-Based Violence Support programming is made available to current and transitioning clients of Gillian’s Place and Birchway Niagara.

How can people access the program?

REACH Niagara is proud to partner with Niagara’s two largest Domestic Violence Shelters and Support Centres in Gillian’s Place and Birchway Niagara. Clients of these shelters have access to our weekly clinics and counseling services.

What are the benefits?

One Canadian woman identifying person is killed every 48 hours (Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability, 2022).  Providing care through strong community partners enables each organization to be able to focus on their primary areas of service.  Major benefits for our clients include:

  • Safety through these secure facilities is our top priority when providing care to those experiencing Gender-Based Violence.
  • Partnering with existing shelters enables us to fill gaps in existing services to provide more holistic care for those in need.
  • Building relationships and providing transitional care helps improve outcomes for those trying to start over after experiencing Gender-Based Violence.

Did you know that when you donate to REACH Niagara, you can specify where you’d like your donation to go? If you want to support all-womens health, please indicate that on the donation form.
